Quick Tips From The Professional

  1. Stop caking your makeup as if Cirque Du Soleil was coming to town. Use a tinted moisturizer that will not only keep your skin hydrated but also cover up those blemishes. (Dermalogica Tinted Moisturizer: Light/Medium/Dark: $40.00)
  2. To fight a pimple quickly, apply toothpaste with a 2.5% content of benzoyl peroxide to help kill bacteria. (Use a true toothpaste, not the gel type)
  3. Cover up those last minute grey hairs with Hair Mascara. It camouflages unwanted grey hairs along with grown out roots. (Hideaway Grey: $9.00)
  4. Never spray your favorite perfume directly onto your skin. Studies show that perfume/cologne causes hyper-pigmentation (age spots). Instead spray the perfume in front of you and walk right through it.
  5. Always carry skin-cleansing wipes in your purse. Not only does junk food contribute to your breakouts but so does airborne bacteria and grease. (Mac Makeup Remover Wipes. Travel Bag containing 45 wipes: $16.00)
  6. Eye drops are used to reduce the redness in your eyes. Little do people know, they will do the same for your breakouts. Just a few drops and your pimple should look less like a cherry.
  7. Shrink that pimple using an ice pack. Cover the ice pack with a towel and treat it as if you were treating a sprained ankle.
  8. When choosing your foundation, make sure it’s oil-free, contains suncreen, is hypoallergenic (will not cause any allergic reactions) and is non-acnegenic and non-comedogenic (won’t cause breakouts).
  9. Since most concealers are heavier than foundation, make sure to use it only where you need a little extra coverage.
  10. Stop treating you’re eyebrows as if you were plucking a chicken. Hold your skin taut and tweeze your eyebrows in the direction of your hair growth. For less pain, tweeze right after getting out of the shower while your pores are still open.
  11. Give your hair the glam it deserves! Sebastian Cellophane treatment will leave you hair with the shine and silkiness your hair needs. ($40.00)
  12. Don’t have time to shampoo your hair? Try using a dry shampoo to remove excess oil coming from your scalp. Simply spray in a massage into your scalp. (Bed Head Rockaholic Dirty Secret Dry Shampoo: $18.95)
  13. Since tanning beds are not recommended due to the high risk of skin cancer, try using a self-tanning lotion. Don’t forget to first use a body scrub to surface away dead skin cells. (Sun Tanning Lotion: $30)
  14. Use a dark pigmented shadow near the outter corner of your eyelids for those sexy smoky eyes. (Mac Mulch Eye Shadow: $14.50)
  15. Product of the week! It’s A 10 Miracle Leave-In Product. This leave in conditioner is great for split ends and color-treated hair. It not only protects your hair from thermal styling tools but it also helps repair dry damaged hair. (4oz bottle: $17.95)
